Lip Augmentation in Dallas, TX

About Lip Augmentation

Countless men and women visit our plastic surgeons, Drs. David G. Genecov, Carlos Raul Barceló and Dr. Huay-Zong Law, every year to achieve the allure of handsome, full lips. If you have naturally a thin mouth or have lost volume in your lips due to advanced age, a lip augmentation can create stunning results. Lip enhancement can be accomplished with a fat transfer or injectable filler to obtain the look you desire. In some cases, patients opt to combine both methods for gorgeous, plump lips. If you're interested in lip augmentation, call Sage Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today to schedule a complimentary consult. We will be happy to explain all your treatment options and help you learn more!

Ideal Candidates

You are an ideal candidate for upper and/or lower lip augmentation if you:

  • Desire fuller, sexier lips
  • Have naturally thin lips
  • Have tried injectable fillers and desire a longer-lasting result
  • Are allergic to or do not respond well to injectable fillers
  • Are in overall good health

What to Expect

Depending on the method selected, surgery may or may not be included, but lip augmentation is considered an outpatient procedure just like injectable fillers.

Fat Transfer: With a fat transfer, fat will be extracted (via liposuction) from your thighs or other area of your body that has excess fat. The fat will then be purified and injected into your lips. Natural fat is a graft that works as a natural filler, as your tissues will immediately accept it. It can also create a more long-lasting result as opposed to artificial fillers.

Injectable Fillers: With fillers, a topical aesthetic will be applied to numb the surrounding area to decrease discomfort. The fillers will then be injected into specific areas of the lips to add fullness. This is a great treatment option because it does not require surgery and it allows you to experience fuller lips without the commitment of surgery. Therefore, if you don't like your results, you don't need to worry because fillers are temporary and will fade after a few months.

Anticipated Results

Whether you received a fat transfer or filler, your lips will be sore or tender for a few days following your procedure. With a fat transfer, you can expect the area where the fat was extracted to be sore as well. It's important to follow all post-treatment instructions provided by our office to achieve optimal healing and cosmetic outcomes. Regardless of the treatment used, both options yield fabulous results. Since dermal fillers are temporary, repeated treatments will be needed to maintain your desired fullness.
