Calf Augmentation in Dallas, TX

About Calf Augmentation

Men and women who have thin or shapeless legs often visit Sage Plastic Surgery for cosmetic enhancement. Our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Carlos Raul Barceló and Dr. Huay-Zong Law, perform calf augmentation (or calfplasty) to create a fuller and more symmetrical lower leg. This procedure is very specific and is not widely offered at aesthetic practices, which is why our Dallas, TX office is proud to be at the forefront of innovative cosmetic care by providing such a unique procedure. If you have naturally deflated calves or simply desire greater definition, call our Dallas, TX practice today to schedule a complimentary consultation.

Ideal Candidates

Calf augmentation surgery is often requested by men and women all across the nation. Ideal candidates:

  • Lack muscle definition in their lower legs
  • Have disproportionate legs
  • Suffered from an injury or trauma that caused calf deformity
  • Have an illness or disease like poliomyelitis or spina bifida

Procedure Techniques

Calf augmentation is accomplished by using soft and solid silicone implants, and there are a variety of shapes and sizes to accommodate the look you desire. Sometimes only one implant is placed to correct asymmetrical calves; in other cases two implants are used in a single calf to create strong definition. During your consultation, our plastic surgeons will be able to discuss these details further and develop an individualized treatment plan that is specific to your shape.

Subfascial is a common surgical technique used for calf augmentation. In the subfascial method, a pocket is created in the fibrous sheet tissue called fascia (covers the calf muscle). Therefore, our surgeons will either create a pocket over the calf muscle to insert the implant. Incisions are typically made within the natural creases of the legs behind the knee. The surgery usually takes about an hour to perform and is an outpatient procedure.

What To Expect

Crutches will be required for about a week following surgery, and legs should be elevated when lying down in a resting position to help reduce swelling. Soreness and swelling is normal but should subside within the weeks that follow. Our office will provide a stretching regimen and specific aftercare instructions to optimize the healing process. The results are a shapelier, well-defined lower leg that can last for 10 – 15 years.

Greater Definition

Those long hours and strenuous leg workouts at the gym yielding the results you desire? Sometimes no matter how hard you work out, it's still not enough to give you the leg definition you want. At our practice, we offer complimentary consultations to men and women who are interested in enhancing the contour of their lower legs. Call Sage Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today to learn more about how calf augmentation can help you.
