About Eyelid Surgery
The eyes are a unique facial component that deserves to be shown; however, an abundance of skin above or under the eyes can create an aging look. Plastic surgeons Dr. Carlos Raul Barceló and Dr. Huay-Zong Law offer blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, to remove excess skin and lift the upper and/or lower eyelids to create a more "alert" appearance. Countless men and women undergo eyelid surgery at Sage Plastic Surgery Group in Dallas, TX to remove puffy bulges, which helps with both functionality and facial appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery creates a fresh and youthful look that can make a subtle, yet dramatic improvement.
Eyelid surgery is a cosmetic surgery sought by both men and women. During your private consultation, treatment alternatives will be discussed based on the symptoms that need to be addressed. In most cases, ideal candidates have excess, hanging skin and folds above their eyes or bulging skin below their bottom eyelids. These conditions can cause vision impairment which can hinder daily life. For a rejuvenated appearance, eyelid surgery may be the right procedure for you. If you have loose skin that droops on the upper eyelids or bulging bags under the eyes, blepharoplasty can correct this to give you a more awakened look.
"I had pharyngeal flap surgery made by Dr. Genecov. I'm 32 years old and had been having hypernasal speech for the whole life - I was born with a cleft palate and had not the best surgery when I was a child. Even though it wasn't an easy task to fix it on an adult, Dr. Genecov did a great job, I already sound and feel better. His office staff is nice and professional, he treats his patients with care and kindness. I had to go to Dallas TX to have all of this done, but it did pay off.Highly recom"- V. / Healthgrades / Oct 26, 2018

"We have seen Dr Genecov probably for 8-9 years now, since we moved to Texas. You can truly see how much he cares about his patients, not once have I felt rushed or like he didn’t want to listen to my concerns. Dr Genecov and his crew are the best of THE BEST!"- W.S. / Facebook / Jul 14, 2020
"I LOVE DR. BARCELO! HE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST! He is very knowledgeable and listens to your concerns/what you are trying to achieve with your visit. He is very realistic and conservative when it comes to injectables, and I have never been unhappy with any of my results! He has been doing my botox for years, and I never have a wrinkle afterwards. He also just did my lips for the first time, I was very nervous as we have all seen women who definitely went overboard. He achieved exactly what I was hoping for and I could not be happier! It is not even noticeable to those who don't know me, but it has made a huge difference for me! I can finally wear lipstick and it not be all over my face, lol. I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering anything in his scope of practice! I live in Austin, and go see him when I come back to Dallas to see my family. I have also never had any difficulty getting an appointment, even the day of sometimes! HE IS THE BEST! Go see him!"- A.S. / Yelp / Mar 02, 2020
During blepharoplasty, depending on the complexity of the surgery, general anesthesia or IV sedation will be given. This treatment may be done on the upper eyelid alone, on the bottom eyelid, or a combination of both upper and lower during the same surgery.
Upper blepharoplasty assists to diminish the hanging of skin that droops over the eye and creates a more appealing eyelid appearance. An incision is usually made along the lash line or crease to trim away tissue and fat.
Lower eyelid surgery is performed to reduce puffy skin under the lower eyelid. The incision is placed just under the lash line to allow access to remove fatty tissue and delicately lift the skin to produce a flatter look. In some cases, a nonsurgical laser treatment can be applied to assist with discoloration, while dermal fillers can be used for added smoothness if necessary.
What to Expect
Blepharoplasty can last up to 2 hours based on what is being corrected in addition to whether one or both eyes are treated. After the procedure, patients should expect a few days to rest and avoid strenuous activities. Ice packs can help reduce bruising and swelling. The results from blepharoplasty can last years and although the outcomes are long lasting, the aging process does not stop. To complement the surgical outcomes, facial rejuvenation treatments such as lasers, chemical peels, and fillers can be added to create a glowing, fresh appearance.
