Since the methods of cheek augmentation varies, so will the recovery process. With surgery, you should expect to experience bruising, swelling, and tightness for 1 – 2 weeks following your procedure. Vigorous activity that will cause your facial muscles to strain (like weight lifting) should be avoided for 7 – 10 days. Optimal healing usually takes about 2 months but the results are long lasting. 

With dermal fillers, you should expect your face to feel sore or tender with minor swelling for about 3 – 5 days following your procedure. However, this timeframe will vary depending on the type of filler received. Ice packs and over-the-counter pain relievers can be used to ease your discomfort. Optimal results are usually seen after about 10 – 14 days. The results will reveal a youthful volume, but follow-up treatments will be needed as fillers are a temporary treatment.
