Arm Lift in Dallas, TX

About Arm Lift Surgery

One of the most frustrating aspects about losing weight or getting older is dealing with loose skin. At Sage Plastic Surgery, we offer arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, as an intervention for anyone who cannot seem to tone and tighten their upper arms with exercise and diet. Loose skin from the elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially for women and men who are advancing in age or have lost weight. Dr. David G. Genecov, Dr. Carlos Raul Barceló and Dr. Huay-Zong Law are talented plastic surgeons who are highly skilled in skin tightening and fat removal procedures. They also provide private consults for those who are interested in undergoing a surgical arm lift. If you would like to understand more about how an upper arm lift can change the appearance of your arms, call the Sage Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today.

Ideal Candidates

An arm lift is an aesthetic surgery using innovative techniques to contour the arm and remove extra skin to tone the loose appearance. If you avoid sleeveless clothes because of your flabby arms and want them to look healthy and fit again, you are an ideal candidate for arm lift surgery. You should be in good overall health so that the skin will heal well. Some of the key indicators for patients who want an arm lift are loose, hanging skin on the upper arms as well as decreased tightness of the skin. It is imperative that you be at or near your goal weight prior to your procedure.

Surgical Technique

Typically, your upper arm lift surgery will take place in an outpatient setting, unless several plastic surgeries are scheduled to be performed at the same time. Arm lift surgery can be added to other procedures (usually performed in an inpatient setting for monitoring) like a mommy makeover, tummy tuck, or thigh lift if Dr. Carlos Raul Barceló decide it's safe. Arm lift surgery is usually performed under a general anesthesia and may take a few hours to complete. The excessive skin will be surgically excised from the elbow up to the underarm. The incision will be mad to be as concealed as possible, but it will most likely leave a visible scar. If liposuction is required to remove stubborn fat, this will be performed as well. Once the skin is tightened, it will be sutured in place. You will need to keep the incisions sanitized, covered, and in compression garments.

What to Expect

Your recovery period will last around 2 weeks with lots of arm elevation, and avoidance of strenuous exercise or heavy lifting. Since your arms are constantly used to perform everyday activities, we encourage you to ease your way back into a normal routine; allow yourself 4 – 5 weeks before you return to vigorous workouts. An appointment to remove sutures will be made at around 10 days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released from this treatment. If you experience excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, hematoma (fluid buildup), infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or heavy scarring, please call Sage Plastic Surgery for help.

Get Back Your Shape

Whatever you call your "bat wings" or droopy skin on your arms, you can be confident that Dr.  Raul Barceló will listen to your concerns and create a treatment plan that will help you achieve that slim look you desire. If you are at or near a healthy weight, and still cannot eliminate the flab and skin that hangs from your upper arms, please call and schedule a private consultation at Sage Plastic Surgery.
